Revit tool InstaBar | How to delete few rebars from the column?

In this column, there are 40 rebars of 16 diameters.

The structural designer has reduced the number of bars to 28 in the upper column. That means we will have to delete 12 rebars.

In this situation, the users of InstaBar should use this 6 number tool.

In this video, I am going to demonstrate, how to reduce the number of rebars in a column?

Click this tool.

Select this top column & this beam.

Now select this bottom column & beam.

InstaBar detects the number of rebars their diameter & the lap length in the bottom column.

We can see those details in this area.

The top column will have rebars of 16 & the lap length 640.

Let the crank length be 200.

Select stirrup diameter of 8.

Select non-uniform.

Stirrup distance for group G1 100.

The number of stirrups in the G1 group is 8.

Stirrup distance for group G2 150.

Now, we need to select the rebars. The selected rebars would be deleted from the top column.

Click this arrow.

In this graphic, click on the dots so that the rebar represented by this dot will be deleted. While selecting the dots, see that you maintain the symmetry.

Now we have few black & blue dots. The rebars representing black dots will reach the top column. While rebars with blue dots will be deleted. They will not reach the top column.

If you are not satisfied with the selection, click the clear button. And again select the dots.

Once you are satisfied, hit done & then click the okay key.

Let us check the rebars.

You can see these are the deleted bars with the hooks. These hooks get embedded in the beams or the floor.

In the plan view, you can see this rebar arrangement.

Let us use this 7th tool. This tool reduces the rebar diameter in the top column.

Let us try it on this column.

Select this top column & this beam.

Now select this bottom column & beam.

InstaBar detects the number of rebars their diameter & the lap length in the bottom column.

We can see those details in this area.

The bottom column has rebars of 16 & the lap length 640. We can also see the number of rebars.

Input diameter for the top column as 12  & lap length 500.

Let the crank length be 200.

Select stirrup diameter of 8.

Select non-uniform.

Stirrup distance for group G1 100.

The number of stirrups in the G1 group is 8.

Stirrup distance for group G2 150.

Now, we need to select the rebars. The selected rebars would be deleted from the top column.

Click this arrow.

In this graphic, click on the dots so that the rebars represented by these dots are deleted. While selecting the dots, see that you maintain the symmetry.

Once you are satisfied, hit done & then click the okay key.

Insta-bar will place the rebars according to your inputs.

Let us observe the rebars. These rebars have 12 diameters.
