Revit Tutorial 2020 – Stair modelling
How to get a smooth join between the stair & the waist slab?
Foundation I – Placing foundations in the drawing & attaching data to it.
In this video session, we will see, placing foundations in the drawing, attaching the data to the foundation.
The user should read the help document specifically the chapter, “working with instacrete” before beginning any project. Now, we will see the working of the foundation tool.
I will proceed to the demonstration considering that you have already created the phases & have all the foundation families in the project file.
Click the foundation tool & open the foundation manager dialogue box. You can see all the grid intersection points in the “grid” column.
Suppose that, you want to place the foundations on A1, A2, A3, A4 & A5 points. Now, select the foundation from the foundation type column for A1, A2, A3, A4 & A5 grid points.
In the A1 row put F1 as the user name, select phase 1 & concrete mix M45. The cost will automatically appear.
In this way assign the values to all the foundations & click ok to place the foundations. Let us observe the drawing area. We can see, the foundation placing over the grid points is accurately done.
The user can avoid attaching the data namely user name, phase & concrete mix. You can avoid or choose the data according to your project need.
Foundation II – Placing foundations symmetrically in the drawing.
In this video session, we will see, placing foundations symmetrically in the drawing.
Many buildings have a symmetric design. Either they are symmetric about the x-axis, y-axis or both. Instacrete provides the facility to place foundations, columns, beams & walls symmetrically.
Let us consider two situations in the drawing area –
A situation where grid placing is symmetric & the other situation where they asymmetric. The situation in which grids are asymmetric Instacrete places the building components symmetrically by drawing an invisible line.
Let us open the foundation manager. Select x-symmetry. The user has to select this symmetry before clicking in the table. Once you select a foundation size, the x or y- symmetry is not available. Select x-symmetry. Select foundation sizes for the grid points A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 & A6 and click ok button.
Observe the foundations in the drawing area. You can see the symmetric placement of the foundations. Along with A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 & A6, foundations are there on F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 & F6 grid points.
Now, let us open the dialogue box & select y-symmetry.
Select foundation sizes for the grid points B1, B2 & B3.
Hit ok to close the box. You can see the foundations on B4, B5 & B6 along with B1, B2 & B3 grid points.
Foundation III – Different methods of editing the foundations.
In this video tutorial, we will edit the foundations.
In this drawing, there are 36 foundations in the drawing. Now, I want to edit a few foundations. So, open the foundation manager.
Suppose, I want to edit footing on the grid point D1, D2 & F1.
You can see, these points are not there on this page of the box.
Let us use the navigation buttons Next & previous.
Click the next button. We can see D1, D2. Change the footing sizes.
Hit the ok button. You can see the change in the drawing.
Again open the foundation manager. Click next button & find the grid point F1. Change the size. Hit the ok button.
We will see another method to edit the foundations. Open the foundation manager. Open the select grid text box. This text box displays all the grid points from the drawing. Select the D1 point from the list.
The display shows the relative page. Change the foundations & hit the okay button. Let us repeat the procedure to change the footing on F1.
Now, let us see another method to navigate through the database in the foundation manager. Open the box. This time we will use the user name to edit the foundation.
Open the user name text box. This list displays all the foundation user names. From the list select the F34 user name. The table shows this particular foundation. Change the foundation size & hit the okay button.
So, next, previous, select grid & select user name buttons are for the navigation through the database of the foundation manager.
Foundation IV – Editing the data & deleting the foundations.
In this session let us see, how to edit foundations with symmetry option on & how to delete the foundations.
We can see six foundations are there from A1 to A6 & its x-symmetric points F1 to F6. Open the foundation manager. As we can see, all the foundations have the same phase & concrete mix, that is phase 7 & M45 respectively on both A & F, row. Select x-symmetry.
Change the size of the foundations from A1 to A6. Change the phase to phase 5 & concrete mix to M40. Click the okay button. You can see, change in the foundation sizes. To see a change in the data, let us open the foundation manager again.
You can see the change in data for the foundations on “A” as well as “F” row.
Let see, how to delete the foundations. Select x-symmetry. Select none for the foundation type & row A1. Click the ok button. You can see there are no foundations on A1 & F1.
