Revit add-in InstaCrete helps to build cantilever beams without any difficulty. The whole modelling procedure is controlled by the dialogue box. Three shapes of the beam are possible.

Cantilever beams I – Adding cantilever beams.
We will add a cantilever beam to the drawing. My aim is to add a cantilever beam at A1 grid point pointing towards the south side.
Open the cantilever beam manager. Select the grid intersection point A1. Select level two. You can choose between East, West, South & North direction. Select the direction “s” that is south. Let the name of the beam be ABCD. Select the first picture.
Select beam size. Late the length be 2000 millimetres. Hit the okay button. Observe the drawing.
Let us build a cantilever beam with a complex shape. Open the dialogue box. Select A3 as the grid intersection point. Select Level 2, direction as “s” that is south. Let the user name be ABCD2.
Select the second picture. Put the lengths in the text boxes as, 2000 millimetres for AB, 250 for BC, 425 for AD & let the thickness of the beam be 300 millimetres.
Hit the okay key. InstaCrete uses the structural framing template to build complex shapes. Save the family by naming it as ABC2. Observe the drawing.
Once more open the dialogue box. Select A6 as the grid intersection point. Select Level 2, direction as “s” that is south.
Let the user name be ABCD3. Select the third picture. Put the lengths in the text boxes as, 2000 millimetres for AB, 250 for BC, 1200 for DE, 425 for AE & let the thickness of the beam be 300 millimetres.
Hit the okay key. Save the family by naming it as ABCD3. Observe the drawing.
Cantilever beams II – Editing cantilever beams.
In this tutorial, we will edit the cantilever beam. Open the dialogue box. Select level 2 from the pull-down menu.
The cantilever beams on level 2 are listed in the table. You can edit the “z” offset, username, phase & the concrete mix of the beam. Let us change the “z” offset value to minus 50 for all the three beams.
Hit the okay button. In the drawing select the beam at A1. In the properties palette box, you can see the offset as 2950.
The height of the level is 3000 millimeters. We have applied the “z” offset as minus 50. So the offset becomes 2950. Similarly, check the offsets of the remaining two beams.
Now we will delete all the three beams. Reopen the box. Select level 2 from the pull-down menu. Under user name, select none for all the three beams. Hit the okay button. Notice that all the three beams are deleted from the drawing.
Following dialogue box helps to build the model of the cantilever beam.
